The FDA has approved New York State to authorize the state's 28 public and private labs to begin manual, semi-automated, and automated testing for novel coronavirus or COVID-19.
The approval allows the state to dramatically increase testing capacity to thousands of tests per day. The approval also extends to the Roche high-volume platform for testing.
Testing is free to all eligible New Yorkers as ordered by a health care provider or by calling the NYS COVID-19 hotline at 1-888-364-3065.

Getting tested is important, but we need to help NY State by prioritizing people who are most at risk
People who may be most at risk fall under these categories
1. Individuals who are showing any symptom in the picture shown above and people who live in a high-risk population, including:
● Persons living in nursing homes or persons who work in a nursing home
● Persons who have a compromised immune system
● Persons who have an underlying health condition
● Persons who are 70 years of age or older
2. Individuals who have been in close contact(ex. 6 feet) with someone who is positive for COVID-19.
3. Individuals who are First responders like health care workers.
4. Individuals who are Essential workers like food service workers that engage physically with the public throughout their jobs.
If you fall under any of these categories.
You may call the New York State COVID-19 Hotline at 1-888-364-3065 or visit the NYSDOH website https://covid19screening.health.ny.gov to be screened for eligibility. If you are eligible, an appointment may be set up so you may be tested at any Test Site in NY.
